For the 10^th year in a row, alumni and actives met at 501 S. Allen Street to get the Kappa house ready for the school year. This year’s event was the best attended and likely most productive and fun weekend so far. David Hyland '81’s master planning paid off as always with the house looking great, thanks to the hard work of the brotherhood’s many hands. Here’s a quick rundown of attendees and accomplishments:

• 15 alumni and spouses
• 20+ actives- most active participation ever!
• Cleaned the house from top to bottom.
• Hedges and trees trimmed. Yard cleaned, and Ben Jarmul '81 even implemented a “good neighbor” policy and trimmed up the hedges across the alley. He was a beast with the power hedge trimmer!
• Built new tables for living room and repaired couches.
• Painted living room, dining room, basement stairwell, bar and party rooms.
• Ordered new rugs for foyer, living room and Alumni “history” room – be on the lookout for a naming contest for this new version of the “Card Room”.
• Chapter “history” room set up with pledge class paddles, newly framed composites and events from the 1950s (photos care of Dick Doherty), and other interesting memorabilia. Next time you are in town, stop in to see what we have so far.
• Thank you private buffet dinner at the Penn Stater- Fred DeCock was honored with the Jim Rock ‘Beacon of Brotherhood’ award for his longstanding commitment to Kappa Chapter.
• A great time was had by all!
