House Improves Safety

By Dick Doherty '58, Alumni Board President

During our annual life safety code inspection we found, among other problems, a hole in the flue and chimney for the boiler. The hole was in the wall of the second-floor rear suite. Fortunately, the flue draws well and no carbon monoxide had entered the room. The fix for now is a 40-foot stainless steel liner at a cost of about $3,000.

There were numerous minor problems, all of which have been corrected. House Manager Mike Nazzary did a great job getting the house ready. Other areas needing attention from the owner's side are an outside door to the deck, shutters, etc. A fire alarm upgrade has been completed, giving us a greater degree of warning.
