Our $1.3 million, much needed construction/renovation project is underway. This is the most extensive renovation project ever done at the Chapter House since it opened 80 years ago.
We greatly thank all of you who have contributed to the campaign. It is because of your financial support and time and effort that has enabled the Reason to be Proud Campaign to proceed. All floors of the house, including the basement, will have significant renovations. Stay tuned to www.phisigpsu.com for images of the floor plans and updated photos of our progress as we continue to move along.

The first wave of contractors has started working. We will have new entrances to the basement, and will install rest room facilities there as well. The much-needed life/safety requirements work will be done as well. Our scheduled completion is August so we can re-open for the Fall 2008 semester.

Based on alumni contributions of about $950,000, we secured a loan of $895,000 from Greystone Bank. A loan is necessary because we have to pay our contractors for their construction in 2008, and the $950,000 will be paid over the next five years. The loan proceeds plus money we will receive in 2008 from pledge payments will cover the cost of our $1.3 million project. We are not out of the woods yet. With the loan proceeds and pledge payments we expect to receive in '08, we still need about an additional $ 300,000-350,000 to ensure the project is completed and we cover any cost overruns that may occur. Also, we need to get new furniture for the living and dining rooms.

If you have not contributed yet, please take the time to download and complete our pledge form and offer to make a contribution. Pledges can be paid over five years. We are asking for 2008 payments to be made prior to August so we have the funds available to pay the contractors. As the pledge form indicates, you can pay by check each year, or you can set up an automatic monthly or other automatic payment arrangement with a debit or credit card.

Can you help us preserve the Kappa Chapter for future generations? If you have not yet contributed, please take the time to fill out our pledge form and offer to make a contribution. Pledges can be paid

I want to thank the Board of Directors, the Reason to be Proud Campaign Steering (including the Finance subcommittee) and Building Committees, our core leadership group and all of our volunteers. Steve Courter '77 did a great job securing the loan, which was no small feat given the national credit crunch that has impacted loan applications all around the country, including ours. Thanks also to Dave Hyland '80 and the Building Committee who worked with our architectural firm (WMF) to deliver an extensive renovation design project that meets our needs and is within our budget. GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!

We will feature a plaque showing everyone who has contributed to our Reason to be Proud Campaign. This Hall of Fame plaque will likely be placed on the wall near the fireplace. Please add your name to this permanent Honor Roll by making your campaign pledge.
