Penn State buys former fraternity house, but reveals no plans

From the 5/26/10 issue of The Daily Collegian...

University officials say no plans have been made for the recently purchased property on North Burrowes Road, though one possibility is to turn the former fraternity house into a park.

Penn State purchased the 240 N. Burrowes Road property from the Phi Delta Theta Alumni Corporation for $1.75 million on May 21.

A property assessment will occur before the university decides how to utilize the property, university spokesman Geoff Rushton said. It could be a while until the university comes to any decisions, he said.

Turning the property into a park is only one potential option, Rushton said. But, he said, no options will be considered until the preliminary assessment is completed.

Though the university is still deciding what to do with the property, Rushton said there are no plans to sell the land to any organizations.
