This year, we have put forth an unprecedented effort towards our THON activities in an attempt to take our involvement with this extraordinary cause to the next level. House involvement in the canning trips was extremely high, and in spite of a reduced number of canning weekends, we surpassed last year's total for canning by around 50%. Currently, our mailing of THONvelopes is underway, but we feel the need to reach out to you, our alumni, in the next step of Phi Sigma Kappa really making a difference For The Kids.

With your help, we can hit our goal of at least $35,000 which would greatly surpass last year's total and dwarf all efforts in recent years. As actives, we feel achievement towards this cause will not only do great things for those in need, but will also provide a huge deal of added prestige and legitimacy to the Phi Sig name among the Penn State Greek community. With the achievement of this goal would very likely come Phi Sig's own THON family for us to personally get to know and support, and a close partnership with a sorority that would allow us to continue to achieve both through THON and the Greek community into the future. We are asking for your help in our fundraising cause, both in support of children fighting for their lives and for the best effort available for advancing the name of the fraternity we are all so damn proud to be a part of.

Last year, THON raised a record-breaking $10.68 million for children battling cancer, and gave nearly 96% of all of the funds raised directly to the Four Diamonds Fund at the Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. Four Diamonds supports a team of pediatric oncology specialists, enables research through the Four Diamonds Pediatric Cancer Research Institute, and offsets the costs of treatment that insurance does not cover.

Every donation helps. For $25, the Four Diamonds Fund can provide one hour of music therapy for a child undergoing treatment. $100 buys one hour of cancer research, including salary and supplies. $300 can help buy a wig for a child who has lost his or her hair. Additionally, THON has contributed $10 million to the construction of a new, free-standing Children's Hospital at Hershey Medical Center.

Everyone in Phi Sigma Kappa is very passionate about THON and helping the kids! We would greatly appreciate if you would join us in the fight to conquer pediatric cancer by making a gift to THON today. You can give online at www.THON.org or with a check made payable to the Penn State Dance Marathon. Please be sure to add our organization's name and number, Phi Sigma Kappa 72, to the memo section of the check, or designate Phi Sigma Kappa when giving online. Please return your gift by January 10, 2013, or as soon as possible after that date. We cannot thank you enough for your support. Together, we will make a difference in the life of a child!

Thank you, and have a great New Year!
